Gemma and Mark's relocation story

Finding Balance and Belonging in Primary Care: Gemma and Mark’s Story

“Relocating to Cornwall just under a year ago, Advanced Nurse Practitioners Gemma and Mark were seeking face-to-face clinical practice that offered genuine flexibility alongside their established commitments in higher education and remote consulting. Joining Kernow Health CIC’s Primary Care Hubs proved to be the ideal bridge into the local health community. By delivering urgent and on-the-day care across a range of general practices, they immediately contributed where local capacity was needed most. For Gemma, this wide-ranging clinical exposure led directly into a permanent, substantive practice post. For Mark, returning to his home county after serving in the Royal Navy offered a welcome chance to reinvest his military and urgent-care experience into local communities—with the Hubs’ adaptable shift booking enabling him to scale sessions up or down around his university teaching terms.

Beyond professional practice, the move has brought their lifestyle into clear focus. Working within the collaborative, supportive network of Kernow Health CIC allows both clinicians to maintain high-level, varied clinical skills while keeping the space needed to hike the coastal paths, spend time on the water, and be close to family. Whether you are looking for a reliable, autonomous clinical base to balance portfolio roles or a supportive stepping stone into long-term practice in Cornwall, Primary Care Hubs offer the clinical variety, autonomy, and work-life balance that make modern primary care sustainable.”
