The SW Primary Care Respiratory Champions would love you to join them! This initiative has been extremely successful across the South West Region, but Cornwall & Isles of Scilly doesn’t have a champion in every PCN and we’d really like to change that. Champions are typically practice nurses although we do have some who are GPs, pharmacists etc – we’d love to have at least one champion in every Primary Care Network.
Champions receive invitations to monthly free virtual education sessions, access to the back–catalogue of recordings on a wide range of respiratory topics, plus a vibrant and active peer support group on WhatsApp. We’ve had compelling feedback from Champions who have undertaken projects, been involved in initiatives, taken a more leadership role, and feel much more appreciated and inclined to stay in their role since becoming a champion. Here are a couple of examples:
- “I joined the group as a nurse with 30 years of experience in respiratory care and as a nurse educator in this area, however the networking, support and the excellent speakers and training have been hugely beneficial to me”.
- “As part of the group and being new to primary care I have found the support invaluable. The training and the WhatsApp have been so helpful and supportive, and helped us feel we are not alone and we can reach out if needed to our peers and someone will know the answer”
