Who is the event for?
The event is primarily for representatives from Kernow Health shareholder practices, including:
- GP partners
- shareholder representatives
- practice leaders
- other senior colleagues nominated by their practice
Each shareholder practice is initially invited to register up to two representatives (additional places may be requested).
Selected Kernow Health, LMC, and partner representatives will also attend where they are contributing directly to the programme, a practical workshop, a case study, or a relevant support offer.
Sharing Best Practice
The programme has been shaped by the priorities practices told us matter most to them. You’ll hear from national leaders, but the focus will keep coming back to Cornwall, to what is already working and to what we can learn from each other.
Keynote speakers
We’re bringing together three different perspectives on leadership, change, and the future of general practice – from the journey of a GP into national leadership and policy, to the wider NHS leadership challenge and the practical changes already happening across the system.
Claire Fuller
GP and former national primary care leader
Claire Fuller brings a unique perspective on what general practice can achieve when it steps beyond the boundaries of an individual practice and leads at system and national level.
A GP by background, Claire has held senior leadership roles across the NHS and has played a significant role in shaping the national conversation around primary care, integrated care and neighbourhood working.
Claire will share her own journey from general practice into national leadership and policy, exploring what she learned about influencing change, building relationships and ensuring the voice of general practice is heard.
Her session will ask a simple but important question: how can general practice use its leadership to influence the wider system and improve care for its communities?
Ed Smith, CBE
Chair, NHS College of Leadership and Management
Ed Smith brings a national perspective on leadership, governance and organisational change, drawing on extensive experience at the highest levels of the NHS and wider public and professional life.
As Chair of the NHS College of Leadership and Management, Ed is closely involved in the developing conversation about what effective leadership and management need to look like across the NHS.
Ed will explore what it means to lead through change, how leaders can create the conditions for people and organisations to succeed, and the role that clinical and practice leaders can play in shaping the future NHS.
For GP partners and practice leaders, this is about leadership not simply as a job title, but as the ability to influence, collaborate, and make change happen.
Roy Lilley
Writer, broadcaster, commentator and NHS provocateur.
Roy Lilley will be our compere and guide throughout the day.
Known for his sharp observations, infectious curiosity and willingness to challenge conventional thinking about the NHS, Roy will help connect the different perspectives across the programme.
Rather than simply introducing speakers, Roy will draw out the practical questions: So what does this mean for general practice? What can we learn from it? What needs to change? And what can we do differently in Cornwall?
His role is to keep the conversation moving, challenge our speakers and help turn the ideas shared during the day into something useful for the people in the room.
Entertainment
Enjoy a fantastic line-up of entertainment throughout the event.
After dinner, Josh Brett, a London-born magician now based in St Ives, will perform his captivating close-up magic and sleight-of-hand right before your eyes.
The evening will conclude with a silent disco, giving everyone the chance to take to the dance floor!
