CQC rates Kernow Health CIC 'good'
by Maria Harvey, Head of Integrated Community Care Services
In March, a team of ten CQC inspectors arrived at Cudmore House to inspect the IUCS, including some of the bases. The attention on IUCS was in part due to CQC’s inspection of the wider urgent and emergency care services taking place at that time across Cornwall and the rest of the country.
The final report has now been published. Overall, the service has been rated ‘good’, which is great! The inspectors deemed the ‘safe’ domain as requiring improvement, which was of course disappointing. However, some areas for improvement were addressed during the inspection and the others have now been actioned and will be embedded into our processes over time.
Many areas of good practice and exemplary individuals were identified by the CQC including the service in Stratton, which was considered to be outstanding – a huge accolade and well-deserved.
This inspection has been important to us as a whole organisation because it gives the commissioners, and more importantly, the public, confidence that Kernow Health is a trusted provider of healthcare, run by exceptionally talented and dedicated people. We, our families and friends, are all potential users of our IUCS and we know how brilliant it is; now we can ensure others know it too.
