Leading from the Middle cohort 3 – Leadership Development Programmestarting on 10th July 2024


Leading from the Middle is one of three Leadership offers available to those working in General Practice.  It is a 12-month bespoke development programme for practicing middle managers in a GP Practice, who are seeking to move into a more senior role, or want to develop to be more effective in their existing role.  This course is suitable for Practice Managers, Nurse Leads, Operational Managers and Team Leaders.

This programme has been developed to reflect the challenges of leading in primary care in Cornwall.  It will be delivered via a blended learning model, incorporating 4 core modules, individual 1:1 coaching, completion of an Insights psychometric profile and delivery of a project.  The programme will be delivered by Crisp Professional Development, an Exeter based company, with over 30 years experience of training and development.

Outcomes of the Programme

The programme is intended to achieve the following:

  • Provide insight and understanding into you as a leader and explore your impact and influence on others
  • Develop your skills and confidence to manage and lead your teams effectively
  • Explore tools and models to help you understand change and how to bring your team with you during change
  • Explore coaching tools and models to enable coaching conversations within your team

  • Completion of Insight Profile
  • Introduction to Insights Workshop – 11th June 2024 9:30 – 11:00 (virtual)
  • Individual 1:1 meeting to review insights profile (arranged on an individual basis during June and July)

  • Module 1: You as a Leader – Wednesday 10 July 2024, 9.30am-4.30pm, St. Austell Conference Centre
  • Module 2: Leading and Motivating Teams – Tuesday 10 September 2024, 9.30am-4.30pm, Scorrier House, Redruth
  • Module 3: The impact of change- Thursday 21 November 2024 9.30am – 4.30pm, Epiphany House, Truro
  • Module 4: Coaching Conversations – Thursday 23 January 2025 9.30am-4.30pm, Victoria Business Centre, Roche
  • Reflective session – Wednesday 5 March 2025 9.30-12.30 St. Austell Conference Centre

Participants must attend all elements of the programme.  The start date for the programme is 10 July, but please note you must complete an online survey to inform your personal profile in June.  On completion of the profile you will meet with the course tutor to have a follow up discussion.  In addition, you can access up to 4 individual coaching sessions, which will be arranged on an individual basis at a mutually convenient time.

Course Cost

This course is funded through the Training Hub via retention funding.  If you withdraw from the course and we cannot find a suitable substitute, you will incur a nominal charge of £250.
