Communities of Practice

Shaping Communities of Practice – We’d Value Your Feedback

At the Cornwall Training Hub we are exploring Communities of Practice (CoPs) as a way of helping clinicians stay connected, keep learning and support one another. Some already exist such as the General Practice Paramedic CoP, First Contact Practitioner (MSK Physiotherapist) CoP, Lead Practice Nurse meetings and Cardio-Renal-Diabetes CoPs even if they are not always labelled as a “CoP.”  Please see the dropdowns below for further details.

Before creating anything new, we want to better understand what people want from these groups, who they are for, and whether new CoPs are needed or if existing ones simply need refreshing or better visibility. We’ve created a short anonymous survey to gather honest feedback, and your input will help shape next steps

Communities of Practice in Cornwall

Allied Health Professional (AHPs) Community of Practice

Within Cornwall we have an established workforce of AHP’s working within general practice.  The main roles within general practice currently are Physiotherapists, Paramedics, Dietitians, Occupational therapists, and Podiatrists – working within First Contact or Advanced Practice jobs.

Over the last 5 years we have developed AHP communities of practice within these professions with the following aims:

  • teaching from clinical experts on relevant topics
  • case study discussion
  • peer support
  • exploring ways of working/quality improvement
  • signposting to education and resources

If you are an AHP working in General Practice in Cornwall and would like to be part of a county wide ‘community of practice’ then please get in touch at  kernowhealthcic.workforce@nhs.net
