Dementia Training Videos for Primary Care by The South West Mental Health Clinical Network
The South West Mental Health Clinical Network have produced a series of short training videos, aimed at GPs, on dementia. The purpose of these videos is to upskill and build upon existing knowledge of dementia to provide confidence to those involved in supporting patients who may be concerned, going through tests or for those who have been diagnosed with dementia.
These videos are presented by Dr Peter Bagshaw, a GP based in Somerset who is also the Clinical Lead for Dementia for the South West Mental Health Clinical Network and the Clinical Lead for Mental Health and Dementia at Somerset CCG. As a GP for over 30 years, Dr Bagshaw is passionate about improving dementia care and in the past has led service redesigns for dementia alongside sitting on the national Improvement and Assessment Framework dementia expert panel.

Dementia E-Learning – Provided by E-Learning for Health
This elearning programme in Dementia Care has been designed to enhance the training and education of the health and social care workforce. It focuses on the essential knowledge and skills needed to support and enable people living with dementia and their family carers to live as well as possible, wherever they live.
The programme directly addresses the Prime Minister’s Challenge on Dementia 2020 by covering all aspects of care for people living with dementia and their family members, from prevention and risk reduction to diagnosis through to bereavement. It emphasises the importance of adopting the perspective and experience of those directly affected by dementia – people living with dementia and their family and friends – and ensuring effective support is provided to health and social care professionals charged with providing compassionate, co-ordinated, evidence-based person-centred dementia care.
