Stepping into Management: Leadership Development Programme Starting 1st November


Our latest Leadership Programme is a 9-month bespoke development programme for those new into management, or those aspiring to start their first role in management.  This may include Team Leaders, Supervisors, Management Leads, Reception Leads, Assistant Practice Managers, or Clinicians who are new to managing people in their practice.

This programme has been developed to reflect the challenges of leading in primary care in Cornwall.  It will be delivered via a blended learning model, incorporating 4 core modules, individual 1:1 coaching and completion of an Insights psychometric profile.  The programme will be delivered by Crisp Professional Development, an Exeter based company, with over 30 years experience of training and development and the company currently delivering the leadership programmes for the Clinical Directors and Central ICA.

Outcomes of the Programme

The programme is intended to achieve the following:

  • Provide an insight into your understanding of your preferred leadership style, strengths and preferences .
  • Provide a grounding in the principles of managing others, including communication, delegation and managing performance.
  • Develop skills and knowledge to help build, motivate and engage your team
  • Facilitate the practical application of these skills within your role

Course Overview

  • Completion of Insight Profile (18 September to 10 October 2023)
  • Introduction to Insights Workshop – Wednesday 27 September 3:30pm
  • Individual 1:1 meeting to review insights profile (arranged on an individual basis on 29 September, 12 October, 13 October and 17 October)

Core Modules: Please note you must attend all sessions

  • Module 1: You as a Leader – Wednesday 1st November 2023, 9.30am-4.30pm, St Austell Conference Centre
  • Module 2: Leading others and Communication – Tuesday 5 December 2023 9.30am-4.30pm , TBC
  • Module 3: Performance Management – Thursday 15 February 2024 9.30am – 4.30pm, Heartlands
  • Module 4: Developing Teams – Wednesday 6 March 2024 9.30am-4.30pm, St Erme Community Centre, Trispen

Participants must attend all elements of the programme.  The start date for the programme is 1st November 2023, but please note you must complete an online survey to inform your personal profile between 18 September and 10 October and attend one of the online Introduction to Insights sessions outlined above in September/October.  This will be followed by an individual discussion on your profile prior to the start of the course.  You will also be able to access up to 2 individual coaching sessions arranged at a time to suit you.

Course Cost

This course is funded through the Training Hub via retention funding.  However, due to the cost of places on this course, we will charge your practice £250 if you are no longer able to keep your place and we are unable to find a substitute.
