This course is being run on 25th March 2026, 9:30am at the Victoria Conference Centre (Avalon Suite).
This interactive session will equip people managers with the skills and confidence to attract, assess, and select the right talent. Whether you’re stepping into your first people management role, aspiring to progress, or seeking a refresher on best practices, you’ll gain practical tools to make informed hiring decisions. By the end, you’ll be ready to build stronger teams, reduce hiring risks, and contribute to long-term organisational success.
We will look at the importance of defining the vacancy and what is required from the very beginning. We will take some time to consider different methods and approaches to finding suitable candidates, look at a framework for conducting effective interviews, explore the importance of establishing a good rapport and connection with candidates, and the use of different styles of questions to get the best out of candidates. Finally, we will cover constructive feedback and effective pre-boarding, onboarding and induction.
Your facilitator will be Kernow Health CIC’s very own Ian Bailey. Ian has worked in HR and Training for over 20 years and brings a wealth of experience. Ian currently supports a myriad of practices within the county with their HR conundrums, whether that be employment-related questions or training advice. He also delivers on our award-winning Practice Managers programme, so he has a good understanding of the challenges faced within Primary Care, and the importance of developing and retaining employees.
