IMPaCT Diabetes (Face to Face Learning) – starting 16th January 2025


IMPORTANT:  PLEASE READ ALL THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION CAREFULLY BEFORE BOOKING.

Course Description: The IMPaCT Diabetes training programme is designed for healthcare professionals, including nurses and allied health professionals involved in the care of patients with diabetes, seeking to enhance their expertise in diabetes management (Nursing Associates may only attend pathway 1, please see below for details). This intensive 12 week programme, which comprises of prior learning followed by 6 in person interactive sessions, covers essential topics for advanced understanding and treatment of diabetes, ensuring participants are well equipped to deliver high quality patient care.

The programme is delivered via three distinct pathways (outlined below).  You must indicate, on your booking form, which pathway you wish to attend.  You must attend all sessions within your chosen pathway.  See the attached flyer for more details on the content of each session.

  • Pathway 1:  (Includes sessions 1, 2, 3 and 6) For those who wish to complete introductory sessions and sessions on therapeutic options, but do not wish to initiate insulin or GLP-1/GIP therapies.
  • Pathway 2:  (Includes sessions 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6)  For those who would like to attend the comprehensive training package, which includes titration and initiation of insulin and GLP-1/GIP therapies.
  • Pathway 3:  (Includes sessions 1, 4, 5 and 6 (*session 1 is optional – see below))  For those who have already completed pathway 1 or have prior learning and competence in both pharmacological and non pharmacological therapeutic management of diabetes and wish to proceed to initiate and titrate injectable therapies.  (Learners who have previously completed pathway 1 do not need to re-attend session 6, however, they can do so if they choose to).   * For Pathway 3 we recommend that all learners attend session 1 as an update of anatomy and physiology and the latest guidance on diagnosis and management, however, this is not compulsory.

  • Session 1 – 16th January 2025 – at Victoria Conference Centre (Avalon Suite), St Austell, 09:15 registration, session starts at 09:30 finishing at 17:00
  • Session 2 – 30th January 2025 – at Shortlanesend Village Hall, just outside of Truro, 09:15 registration, session starts at 09:30 finishing at 17:00
  • Session 3 – 13th February 2025 – at Victoria Conference Centre (Lowan Suite), St Austell, 09:15 registration, session starts at 09:30 finishing at 17:00
  • Session 4 – 13th March 2025 – at Victoria Conference Centre (Avalon Suite), St Austell, 09:15 registration, session starts at 09:30 finishing at 17:00
  • Session 5 – 3rd April 2025 – at Shortlanesend Village Hall, just outside of Truro, 09:15 registration, session starts at 09:30 finishing at 17:00
  • Session 6 – 5th June 2025 – at Victoria Conference Centre (Lowan Suite), St Austell, 09:15 registration, session starts at 09:30 finishing at 17:00  – this session will be sponsored by a pharma company – tbc.  They will have not initiated this meeting and will have no input into the content, programme or organisation of this session.

 

Prior Learning Requirements:  Before attending the 6 interactive sessions, of the IMPaCT Diabetes Training Programme, participants must complete mandatory preparatory learning. The mandatory reading includes the current NICE guidelines and the 2022 ADA/EASD Consensus Report, this will provide essential information to be utilised and expanded upon during the interactive sessions. Additional recommended readings or eLearning modules will be suggested as supplementary resources, to be completed at the discretion of individual attendees. It is anticipated that the mandatory prior learning for each session will require an average of 2-3 hours of study time.

Cost of Course

This course is provided free of charge to members of the Primary Care Education Programme. For non-members, a charge of £744 inc VAT (for pathway 2) and £372 inc VAT (for pathways 1 & 3) applies.
