Capability and Conduct (Face to Face Learning) – 11th November 2026

This course is being run on 11th November 2026, 9:30am at the Victoria Conference Centre (Victoria Suite).

Whether you’re stepping into people management for the first time, sharpening your skills, or refreshing your knowledge, our Capability and Conduct training equips you with the confidence and tools to handle performance and behavioural issues effectively. This session will focus on developing an understanding of what we mean by ‘Poor Performance’ in the workplace.  We will explore the similarities and differences between a ‘Can’t Do’ (capability) or a ‘Won’t Do’ (conduct) performance issue and the next steps in the ‘informal’ management processes.  How can line managers give feedback that performance is not meeting the required standards and set clear goals and plans for performance improvement? How do line managers ensure new starters are supported in starting a new role, and what does this involve to set and manage expectations? We will also consider when a poor performance situation requires a formal intervention or process, and what this means in practice.

Your facilitator will be Kernow Health CIC’s very own Ian Bailey. Ian has worked in HR and Training for over 20 years and brings a wealth of experience. Ian currently supports a myriad of practices within the county with their HR conundrums, whether that be employment-related questions or training advice. He also delivers on our award-winning Practice Managers programme, so he has a good understanding of the challenges faced within Primary Care, and the importance of developing and retaining employees.
