There are an estimated 10,000 people living with dementia in Cornwall and Isles of Scilly. Research shows that two-thirds of people with dementia are likely to experience a fall each year, twice the rate of falls seen in people over 65 without a dementia diagnosis (where one-third are likely to fall annually).
This training is open to everyone, but it is primarily aimed at carers of people living with dementia, whether providing care at home, in a care home or in a hospital setting. As such, this session will include some medical terminology. However, please feel free to ask questions if anything is unclear. Your feedback is valuable and will help shape future sessions. If we receive feedback that the content is too medically focused, we may offer a separate session tailored for people living with dementia, their families and informal carers.
This training covers:
- Background on falls, dementia and delirium.
- Identifying and assessing dementia and delirium.
- The relationship between falls, dementia and delirium and the associated risks.
- Who should have a falls assessment in dementia community and how.
- Falls prevention strategies for people living with dementia.
This session will highlight services available to people living with dementia in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. While the webinar is open to attendees from outside the region, please note that some services mentioned may differ depending on your location.
We reserve the right to cancel any ineligible bookings.
